1. How is the EDP different from other assessment tools?

The EDP is distinct from other assessments which purport to measure entrepreneurial abilities in a multitude of ways.  First, the EDP not only is psychometrically sound, but also it has gone through a rigorous developmental process.   Two preliminary versions of the instrument were produced prior to the final version which has very strong psychometric properties.

Second, the EDP clearly tracks both the personality and the cognitive style or “mindset” of the entrepreneur.  These two categories enhance the usefulness of the tool and add a level of complexity that cannot be found in other measures of entrepreneurial talent.

Third, since the research underlying the EDP has established distinct norms for both corporate and entrepreneur populations, a variety of individual and group comparisons that facilitate leadership development goals and career planning are possible.  Users have a strong conceptual base and easy-to-interpret feedback reports that can be applied across individual, group, and organizational frameworks.  The fact that the EDP can be completed in less than 10 minutes is a clear bonus for busy managers.

2. What are the benefits of the EDP?

Available in an on-line format, the EDP takes less than 10 minutes to complete and the report, while comprehensive, is easy to understand. The exclusive normative data enables individuals and teams to compare their results with entrepreneurs and corporate leaders across all industry segments.  As a research-based, psychometrically sound instrument, the EDP

Addresses a new model of leadership which emphasizes the connection between entrepreneurship and economic growth
Includes constructive strategies to promote the entrepreneurial skills of both managers and individual contributors
Gives insight into how an "entrepreneurial mindset" drives growth and productivity
Transforms entrepreneurial capacity into successful ventures

4. Does the Leadership Development Institute offer in-house/custom programs on the EDP?

Yes.  The EDP can be part of a customized training program offered by the Leadership Development Institute at Eckerd College (LDI).  Custom programs can range from a two-hour segment focusing solely on the EDP to a multi-day program involving other topics or assessment tools.  LDI instructors and staff work with client organizations to tailor programs to the unique needs and circumstances of the organization.

Although every custom program is different, most feature a variety of teaching methods including lectures, group exercises, role plays, individual assessment, confidential feedback and coaching, personal attention, action planning and goal setting and post-program follow-up.  Not only are LDI programs constructive and positive but they also provide the support systems individuals need for realistic self-assessment and behavioral change both during and after the program.  Custom programs can be held on site at your location or on the Eckerd College campus in St. Petersburg, Florida.

5. How much does the EDP cost?

The EDP, with easy on-line administration, is offered in three different formats:

Self-Report Feedback (your view of yourself) $45
Group Report (composite data for a group, team or organization) $250
360 Feedback (feedback from bosses, peers, and direct reports) $200

Volume discounts are available.

6. Do I need to be certified in the EDP?

You do not need to be certified to take the Individual version of the EDP, but since the EDP Group Report and the EDP 360 are more involved, users are asked to complete additional steps before purchasing.  Please click here for more information about certification.

7. What resources are available to help interpret the EDP?

Every EDP feedback report comes with a 75-page Development Guide.  The Development Guide includes interpretive material about each of the 14 scales, suggestions for development, recommended resources, and guidelines for successful action planning.  This thorough and practical resource helps participants synthesize their results and generate a plan to leverage existing strengths and/or enhance skill sets.

Although the Development Guide is a very user-friendly and cost-effective resource for interpreting and acting upon your EDP results, additional options for more individualized interpretation of your results are available through the Leadership Development Institute at Eckerd College.  If you are interested in scheduling a personal feedback session or receiving ongoing coaching on your EDP results from one of our experienced executive coaches, please call  855-602-7765 .
